How Do You Define Your Identity?

I recently read a statement made by a professional basketball player that said his identity was in Jesus Christ and basketball . Having wondered what that statement really meant I did some research. We intend to look for our identity in external things such as our professions, careers, where and how we live, but these are things that could change at anytime. Identity comes from within because God made each one of us unique individuals with different personalities, talents, dreams and influence to fulfill a purpose for His plan . Your identity is not a hope or a guess. God gave His word, the Bible, so you can know Him and know who He is in you ! Jesus died for our sins, what we’ve done wrong is not counted against us, we are without sin, not that we won’t sin, but we “are” forgiven and that is something we can build our identity on.

Ephesians 2:19
So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but your are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God .

Prayer:
Lord, as we look at all the external things around, help us to always remember our identity is not in those things but in our relationship with you and only you. There are days we may struggle with who we are, but knowing you are there to remind us through your words will comfort us. In your name we pray. Amen
