Enduring The Heat!

Recently we have been experiencing some extremely “hot” days, not too uncommon for the South in July and August, but to be in the triple digits is a little unusual, and for so many days in a row. We are fortunate, though, that we have access to fans, air conditioners, and can find plenty of water when we need it. Still, we whine and complain as to when it will end and finally get some cooler weather. How many of us stop and think about how it was for the Israelites as they were led out of bondage across a hot, dry desert not knowing for sure where they were going, only promises of something better to come . The faithful knew that their God would provide and they followed without doubts in spite of the burdens, but for those who had doubts, grumbled and rebelled against God and Moses, and, well, we saw what happened to them. I guess they forgot all that was done for them to bring them out of bondage. It’s called a sort of “spiritual amnesia.” I think we are all guilty of that from time to time. It’s something we can all work on a little more, learn to appreciate the things that God has blessed us with!

Isaiah 49:10
They will not hunger or thirst, nor will the scorching heat or sun strike them down; for He who has compassion on them will lead them and will guide them to springs of water.

Prayer:
Lord, we pray for your forgiveness when we whine and complain when we should be so grateful for all the good things around us that you have so lovingly blessed us with. May we always be mindful of the children of Israel and their journey. In your name we pray. Amen

  1. Thank you for reminding us of our blessings. It’s so easy to focus on our discomfort when we have been blessed beyond measure. And thank you for your faithfulness, Sue, in keeping the Lord and His favor in our sights.. May you be blessed today.
