“If you bow low in God’s awesome presence, he will eventually exalt you as you leave the timing in his hands. Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you. Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour. Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong,
vigorous faith. For you know that your believing brothers and sisters around the world are experiencing the same kinds of troubles you endure. And then, after your brief suffering, the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever. Yes, he will set you firmly in place and build you up. And he has all the power needed to do this-forever! Amen.” 1 Peter 5:6-11 TPT
So often, in the midst of our anxious moments, we tend to lose our patience and temporally fail to remember that we can pour out our worries and stress upon Him, and even more importantly, is that we can leave them there. Although seeking Him first, through His Word, or even a simple prayer, for our calm, can be difficult when we find ourselves hurting both physical and mentally.
In this passage, Peter is attempting to help us understand the importance of learning to lean on Jesus. We need to recognize that our Savior cares, and that our struggles throughout this life can serve to strengthen our faith and powerfully restore our Peace. Learning to recognize that everything in our lives happens within His timing can sometimes be challenging within itself. Peter’s life and his relationship with his master,
our Savior, can be an inspiration for us, in that throughout his weaknesses, he was continually made strong, for he tells us that the same can be ours, as long as we continue to ask.
Heavenly Father, help us to remember, as Peter has shown us, through You, that our weaknesses can bring strength, power, and ultimate peace within, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Peace
