Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“Jesus knew that the night before the Passover would be his last night on earth before leaving this world to return to the Father’s side. All throughout his time with his disciples, Jesus had demonstrated a deep and tender love for them. And now he longed to show them the full measure of his love. Before their evening meal had begun, the accuser had already planted betrayal into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. Now Jesus was fully aware that the Father had placed all things under his control, for he had come from God and was about to go back to be with him. So he got up from the meal and took off his outer robe, and took a towel and wrapped it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ dirty feet and dry them with his towel. After washing their feet, he put his robe on and returned to his place at the table. ‘Do you understand what I just did?’ Jesus said. I speak to you timeless truth: a servant is not superior to his master, and an apostle is never greater than the one who sent him. So now put into practice what I have done for you, and you will experience a life of happiness enriched with untold blessings!”‘ John 13:1-5,12,13,17 TPT

We just celebrated a day set aside each year to do something special, or in some way, to show our love to someone, or ones that are dear to our hearts, ones that we love. In doing so, we try to set aside our so-called roles, and through equality find the time to spend with those we love. Like Jesus, we humble ourselves in love and in sharing of our time with others, even to the point of washing each other’s feet.

In this passage, John is describing the love Jesus has for those who follow him, in that he is not only a Master, but a Servant. We need to realize that God knows everything about us yet loves us regardless. He loves us through every hurt, those of physical, mental, pain or sorrow, and remains steadfast awaiting our call.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember that in your unwavering love for us, you gave your most precious gift, your only Son, and be ever so thankful.

In Christ Love
