“Be faithful to pray as intercessors who are fully alert and giving thanks to God. And please pray for me, that God will open a door of opportunity for us to preach the revelation of the mystery of Christ, for whose sake I am imprisoned. Pray that I would unfold and reveal fully this mystery, for that is my delightful assignment. Walk in the wisdom of God as you live before the unbelievers and make it your duty to make him known. Let every word you speak be drenched with grace and tempered with truth and clarity. For then you will be prepared to give a respectful answer to anyone who asks about your faith. For we know that we will receive a reward, an inheritance from the Lord, as we serve the Lord Yahweh, the Anointed One! A disciple will be repaid for what he has learned and followed, for God pays no attention to the titles or prestige of men.” Colossians 4:2-6, 3:24-25 TPT
Our duty as believers is to pray. This is our way of staying in contact with our Father. Whether life finds us bubbling with joy and excitement or has us pulled down in some sort of crisis, our means of survival is to pray. As God’s children, our Hues should be a model for those around us, so that the unbelievers will notice, with a desire as to seek our source of strength.
In this passage, the Apostle Paul is stressing the importance of prayer, not only for ourselves, but as intercessors for others. He asks for prayer for himself as a minister of the gospel, just as we should for our leaders and ministers. We should seek every opportunity to live for Christ before the lost of those around us, speaking always with grace. Think of the difference that could be made, if people around us noticed such a change that they too would simply seek our Father, knowing it is all in the asking.
Heavenly Father, help us to remember that through prayer, our lives can grow within the peace and love as you have shown, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
