“Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you, and pay attention to all that I have to say. Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit. Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being. So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:20-23 TPT
Following directions can so often become a challenge. Traveling from one destination to another requires some sort of direction. So, why should our lives be any different? We need direction, whether in our actions, our words, or in our thoughts. Our lives are so fast paced, the time necessary to seek proper direction is often passed by, leaving us with an undesirable outcome.
In this passage, King Solomon is instructing us to listen and pay attention to His Word, keeping them in our thoughts. Again, in Colossians 3:16a, the Apostle Paul writes, “Let the word of Christ live in you richly, flooding you with all wisdom.” And in verse 17a he writes, “Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.” Throughout his Word, we are reminded of the importance of seeking Him, for our direction, and our healing, with the ability to guard our heart, so that our innermost being can be filled with his peace.
Heavenly Father, help us to remember the importance of seeking your Word, unwrapping and applying it’s meaning as we walk through every circumstance, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
