“I look up to the mountains and hills, longing for God’s help. But then I realize that our true help and protection come only from the Lord, our Creator who made the heavens and the earth. He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fail. God is my keeper; he will never forget nor ignore me. He will never slumber nor sleep; he is the Guardian-God for his people, Israel. Jehovah himself will watch over you; he’s always at your side to shelter you safely in his presence. He’s protecting you from all danger both day and night. He will keep you from every form of evil or calamity as he continually watches over you. You will be guarded by God himself. You will be safe when you leave your home and safely you will return. He will protect you now, and he’ll protect you forevermore!” Psalm 121 TPT
How could we possibly ask for a better protector or guardian? To think that the Creator of the universe is watching over us, not just every now and then, but day and night. For us, it simply means we are to put our trust in Him. We are to become a part of his family, a child of the Most High God. Personally, I can’t think of a better protector, nor anything more important than just being His child.
This passage, although speaking of the nation Israel, clearly speaks to all who give their lives to God, trusting in him, and living by his Word. He never sleeps, never ignores us, and will never forget that he is our keeper. His protection being two-fold, both physical and spiritual, indicates his total care for us, now and forevermore. We can find that he will always be at our side sheltering us with his presence, covering us with his robe of peace, all for the asking!
Heavenly Father, help us to remember that as your children, trusting in you,
your presence never leaves us.
