Just A Few Of My Thoughts …
“At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the waves! When the disciples saw him walking on top of the water, they were terrified and screamed,’ A ghost!’ Then Jesus said, ‘Be brave and don’t be afraid, I am here!’ Peter shouted out, ‘Lord, if it’s really you, then have me join you on the water!’ ‘Come and join me,’ Jesus replied. So Peter stepped out onto the water and began to walk toward Jesus. But when he realized how high the waves were, he became frightened and started to sink. ‘Save me, Lord!’ he cried out. Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and lifted him up and said, ‘What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?’ And the very moment they both stepped into the boat, the raging wind ceased.” Matthew 14:25-32 TPT
How many of us, while in the midst of circumstances attempting to bring us down, can relate to Peter? We begin strong in our faith, our eyes focused on Jesus, and all is well, but with the passing of time, feeling no change, so often we tend to let ourselves focus on the circumstance, leaving an open gap for our faith to falter. Instead of fear or failure, like Peter, these are the times, with renewed faith, we reach out, to Jesus.
In this passage we find first, a reaction by faith when Peter stepped out of the boat, but within his reality of the circumstance, there was a bit of faltering faith, only to end with his faith being restored, as he reached out and touched the outstretched arm of Jesus. This conversation between Jesus and Peter provides us with an outline we could easily use, no matter the circumstance. Maintaining our faith in the middle of difficult situations consists of keeping our eyes focused on the One with the power to keep us strong. Why would we let doubt win, when His power awaits us, all for the asking!
Heavenly Father, help us to remember, when troubles arise, through faith, we can reach out to Jesus, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
