“Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as his beloved sons and daughters. And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration-a sweet healing fragrance. So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes. Always give thanks to Father God for every person he brings into your life in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And out of your reverence for Christ be supportive of each other in love.”
Ephesians 5:1-2,15-16,20-21 TPT
As children, we are likely to imitate those we are around, so it is important that from an early age, we are exposed to God’s Word and become well acquainted with Jesus as not only our Savior, but our friend. Unfortunately, in today’s society, we often fail to hear of the importance of our Lord being first in our lives, therefore, leaving a perfect opening for the ways of the world to creep in, many times creating a void within us.
In this passage we are reading of the extravagant love of Christ for us, in that he surrendered his life, so that we can live forever with him. Today, we continue to live in evil times, but the love Jesus has for us remains true. Through Him, in our weaknesses, we are made strong. With Jesus, if we love him, and are called according to his purpose, all things will work together for our good. Imagine, no matter the circumstance confronting us, Jesus awaits, all for the asking!
Heavenly Father, help us to remember the importance of introducing your love, and that of knowing your Son to our children and those who need your touch, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
