Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“When you enter the next village, you will find tethered there a donkey’s young colt that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it to me. And if anyone stops you and asks, ‘What are you doing?’ just tell them this: ‘It is needed for the Lord of All.’ The two who were sent entered the village and found the colt exactly like Jesus had said. While they were untying the colt, the owners approached them and asked, ‘What are you doing?’ The disciples replied, ‘We need this donkey for the Lord of All.’ They brought the colt to Jesus. Then they placed their prayer shawls on its back, and Jesus rode it as he descended the Mount of Olives toward Jerusalem. As he rode along, people spontaneously threw their prayer shawls on the path in front of him like a carpet.” Luke 19:30-36 TPT

This triumphal entry was not with an armored bullet-proof vehicle, or a horse driven chariot, not even a mighty war horse, but a lowly beast of burden, a borrowed donkey, a specifically purebred colt that had never been ridden. Instead of the fanfare some may have expected from a King, Jesus entered the streets of Jerusalem with gentleness, meekness, and humility.

Notice, that in this passage, the disciples never questioned Jesus concerning the donkey. They simply followed his directions, which had been foretold by the prophet Zechariah, that their King will come in righteousness and victorious, yet in humility and gentleness riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. The disciples then placed their prayer shawls on its back for Jesus to ride on as he began his entrance into Jerusalem. As he rode the people also spread their prayer shawls and laid palm branches on his path. Jesus continues to accept us with humility and gentleness, regardless of anything we might be facing, all for the asking.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember, that no matter where we are, or what situation we find ourselves in the midst of, you await our calling, and be ever so thankful.

In Christ Love
