Needless to say we are all experiencing summer heat and soaring temperatures which can make us physically exhausted and our tempers on edge. It seems the most exercise we get during these periods of excessive heat is walk from air-conditioned room to air-conditioned room! What’s worse is when we have to be out in it for work or running errands, and all we want to do is get done what we have to do and be where we are more comfortable. We tend to forget the people we encounter are going through much the same thing, among other issues they may be having, and may be more rude and quick to react in a “not so kind” way. These are situations that are hard to deal with at anytime, but when we are wilting from the heat, our brain feels foggy, and we are looking for some relief what do we do? Find access to a cold glass of water, thank Jesus for being the cool water that satisfies your thirsty soul, find time and give yourself permission to sit quietly in an air conditioned room or under a shade tree and read a Psalm instead of scrolling for other things on your phone, and just offer simple one sentence prayers during your day. The goal is to find patience, rest and strength during the heat of summer and soaring temperatures, reminding ourselves that relief “IS” on the way!
Genesis 8:22
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray not only for ourselves but those who need your protection from the scorching sun and heat that they will find the things they need, such as water and shelter to be refreshed and renewed. Help us to be more mindful of others especially those who may be in need. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
THE HEAT IS ON!
