Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“Now, this is the goal: to live in harmony with one another and demonstrate affectionate love, sympathy, and kindness toward other believers. Let humility describe who you are as you dearly love one another. Never retaliate when someone treats you wrongly, nor insult those who insult you, but instead, respond by speaking a blessing over them-because a blessing is what God promised to give you. For the Scriptures tell us: Whoever wants to embrace true life and find beauty in each day must stop speaking evil, hurtful words and never deceive in what they say. Always turn from what is wrong and cultivate what is good; eagerly pursue peace in every relationship, making it your prize.” 1 Peter 3:8-11 TPT

I have noticed, that in today’s society, so many people find it difficult to demonstrate true love, the kind we find throughout the teachings from Jesus. To have the ability to speak blessings instead of hurtful words, keeping the peace when anger tends to take control, requires the love and respect for one another, as He taught. In the midst of turmoil, the question of where is God, or why did God let this happen, often comes up? Believe it or not, our answers can be found in His Word.

In this passage, Peter is explaining the key elements we, as Christians, should have. We are to be covered with affectionate love, pursue like-kind goals, care for others, be sensitive, and willing to encourage each other. We are to rise above conflict, seeking peace above all else, and praying for all that have gone out of their way to cause problems. Realizing that a peacemaker’s job is not easy, that hard work is a requirement, and that prayer, along with listening for our direction from the Holy Spirit, should help us to know it can be ours, all for the asking.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember, that in your love for us, you gave your Son, and in that, through your Word, we find your peace.

In Christ Love
