“Our love for others is our grateful response to the love God first demonstrated to us. This is how we can be sure that we love the children of God: by having a passionate love for God and by obedience to his commands. You see, every child of God overcomes the world, for our faith is the victorious power that triumphs over the world. Since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before him, for if we ask anything agreeable to his will, he will hear us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have obtained the request we ask of him.” 1 John 4:19, 5:2,4,14-15
In life it becomes apparent that we are not in control of the circumstances that befall us, therefore, we can easily be caught off-guard. In our haste for resolutions, we so often take for granted the compassionate love our Heavenly Father has for us as his children. His love can provide us with the peace we so often need, as well as the healing of our hearts, as it brings about restoration.
In this passage we are told that God’s love is the source of all human love, and with us as his children, his massagers, this love can spread one to another. We are blessed because he has given us the Holy Spirit to live within our hearts. This enables us to speak words of kindness, comfort, and peace, as it strengthens our faith, filling us with the victorious power to overcome the world. As we communicate with him, we discuss his desires for us, as we align our prayers to his will. In doing so, we can be certain that he listens, as we seek him for answers, knowing they can be ours, simply for the asking.
Heavenly Father, help us to remember how you demonstrated your passionate love for us, in that you gave your only Son, so that we could live forever with you, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
Margaret
