TAKE A DAY TO REST!

Things have certainly changed over the years. It use to be Sunday was the day for church, family dinners and rest, except for those that were necessary workers, police, firemen, hospital workers, etc. Stores use to be closed on Sunday, but that isn’t the case anymore, not to mention sporting events among other activities on Sundays. Many of us find ourselves caught up in the busyness of life and neglect, not just Sunday, but any day to just rest, not only for our physical rejuvenation but also our spiritual renewal as well. God gave us the Sabbath Day as a sacred gift, a time set apart to rest, worship and reflect. It is to remind us of God’s mighty power and His desire for us to find some peace, and to be in His presence. It is a commitment to step away from the everyday activities, not to mention everyday stress so many of us encounter, and let God help us find some relief from it all so our hearts can be more aligned with His mercy and grace. It’s important to set aside time, even if it can’t be a Sunday, to worship, pray and reflect on God’s goodness. Just remember, the Sabbath is to remind you of God’s love and His desire for us to rest in Him.

Exodus 20: 8-10
Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the Sabbath, to be In your presence to rest, worship and reflect on how much you love us and want us to be rejuvenated, physically, and renewed spiritually. May we find a time each week for this special gift. In your precious name we pray. Amen
