MY friend and I recently hosted a Christmas function, and after hearing some of the positive feedback from it, I realized how important fellowship is. Not only does it help us to find some peace amid the busyness of other things that need to be done, family dynamics that can be a concern, and the most common depression. By talking to others who are in the same situation, who can empathize and sympathize, and who just plain “get it,” can help encourage and bring some comfort. Preparing for gatherings can be time consuming and worrisome, (how many will come and will everyone have a good time?), but once things get underway and you hear lots of “chit-chat” and lots and lots of laughter, to me, goodness has prevailed. Yes, we may shed a few tears, but to know those are shed in love for one another can be uplifting as well. Sometimes when we are invited to an activity we have to encourage ourselves to get moving, but how often don’t you go and find out it was the most positive and uplifting thing you could have done? That encouragement wasn’t just your doing, it was coming from the One that loves you and knows what you need! Live, love, laugh and find the “goodness as you gather together!”
Proverbs 17~22
A merry heart does good, like medicine, buy a broken spirit dries the bones.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the times we can be with our family and friends, help our gc1therings be filled with peace and joy by keeping Christ at the center of it all. Help us show grace and love, remembering all your blessings. In your precious name we pray. Amen
THE GOODNESS OF GATHERING TOGETHER!
