Having just celebrated the “Fourth of July” holiday, I wonder how many of us took the time to reflect on what it all meant. No matter the issues we are having in this country right now, this is still a great country we are fortunate to live in. We are provided with so many freedoms, many of which we do not realize but just take for granted. We have the opportunity to use our time and talents in a way that suits us, further our education, have freedom of speech and worship however we choose. If we would stop and think of the countries that do not have these privileges, we might appreciate ours more! It’s difficult to believe there are countries where people are persecuted and even killed for how they worship, not to mention what happens when they don’t follow the laws set into place by that country. Although a tough mountain to move in most countries, we should all be advocates to promote justice and equality for all because we have the freedom to set the example for all countries, and the Bible tells us mountains can be moved! We also need to stop, reflect and be grateful for the individuals who fought for, and continue to fight for our freedom, many paid the ultimate price for that. Finding freedom in the Lord who’s love and forgiveness, gives us the opportunity to live a life of purpose and service as He did for us!
Galatians 5: 13
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love to serve one another.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to remember to be grateful for the freedoms we are blessed with and not take them for granted, that we may use them in alignment with your will by love, compassion and forgiveness. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
LET FREEDOM RING!
