ACTS OF KINDNESS!

Over the years I have had many acts of kindness shown me, as I am sure we all have. I remember one particular act that has stayed with me for many years and set the example of how one simple act of kindness can have a lasting effect on someone. My husband and I were busy moving into a house in a new neighborhood, and though many neighbors had come by and introduced themselves and were kind enough to lend us a hand with what needed to be done, what I remember the most was a wife of one of the neighbor fellows brought a plate of sandwiches to all of us. Food was the last thing on my mind at the time but I remember being extremely grateful and a bit overwhelmed as had never had something like that happen to me before. Needless to say her timing was perfect as everyone was starving and the sandwiches were delicious. All I could think about for days, and obviously, years since, was what a nice thing to do and I hope to follow that example of kindness going forward. Thankfully there have been many opportunities to do so, it may have not been sandwiches, but if I have seen a need I have tried to fill that need the best I can. I recently found a John Wesley Rule which I think is perfect for us to remember: Do all the good you can , By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can , As long as ever you can. It’s not only the act we do but it’s setting the example for others, who knows the lasting impression it might leave on someone?

Colossians 3: 12
You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble unoffendable in your patience with others.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to always be aware of the needs for others, no matter how big or small. Help us to fill those needs to the best of our abilities May they see your light through us and may it have a lasting impact. In your precious name we pray. Amen
