The Thanksgiving holiday means different things to various people. To some, it’s just another day, others a day off from work and to many a day of eating, drinking and watching football! For retailers it usually means the kick off day for Christmas shopping. Unfortunately many of us have lost insight as to what Thanksgiving truly is. It is a holiday set aside to celebrate the harvest and blessing of the past year. It is modeled after a harvest feast shared by the English Colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanong people in 1621. This is a feast and celebration to be shared with our families and friends and to be reminded of how the Lord has blessed us with all that is good in our lives. We know that some of the dynamics in our lives are not perfect, but this is one day we can look beyond that and see the good things and love those around us unconditionally! May your Thanksgiving be filled with love and many blessings as you gather together.
Psalm 11:4
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name.
Prayer :
We thank you Father for all your blessings to us and our families for the strength you give us each day and for all the people you surround us with each day to make life more meaningful. In your precious name. Amen
