We all enjoy receiving compliments, especially when we aren’t, or usually aren’t, expecting any. Compliments can lift us up, make our day, make us feel better about ourselves , and if it’s one that really impacts us, we could remember it the rest of our lives. As women, though, we have a tendency to give a compliment but then turn around on ourselves wishing we had the same attributes. For instance, to tell someone how nice their hair looks then how bad our own looks, going into “great” detail, would seem to shed some negativity on the compliment! Myself, I am trying to do better in that area, give the compliment and leave it at that, just to see a persons reaction and how their face lights up should be enough. I believe compliments are one of God’s gifts of ministry to us, and shouldn’t we be using it to lift each other up? It is also a source of encouragement and love that God so desires us to give to one another . When the desire to compliment someone is there, don’t hold back, your never know how you might impact someones day! Aren’t we complimented by God through the joy, peace, faith and love He brings to us?
Romans 15:2
Each of us should please our neighbor for their good, to build them up.
Prayer :
Father, thank you for the gift of giving compliments to one another. If we can bless someone and make a difference in their day, we not only have done it for them but for ourselves too. Encourage us to not hold back when a compliment is needed . In your name we pray . Amen
