This time of year most of us focus on preparing our homes for the Christmas holidays by eliminating physical items we no longer want or need only to, most likely, fill it up again with more physical items we most likely don’t want or need! We seem to do that year after year, but do we do the same for our spiritual self? The act of decluttering, not only the physical things but the decluttering our hearts of grudges and worries makes way for the spiritual joy and peace of the holiday season and helps us to focus on what is most important. We all have a tendency to become overwhelmed, over think and make things more complicated then they need to be and that is when we turn to God and ask for His help in finding a simpler approach. We pray for balance and the ability to set priorities and that will lead us closer to Him rather than getting caught up in all the stress that usually follows us throughout the holiday season. Remind yourself that the true joy of Christmas is found in Him, allow His peace to replace your worries.
1Corinthians 14:33
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace-as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray for your guidance during this time of holiday preparation that when we become overwhelmed and things become too complicated that you will help us to find balance and the ability to set priorities so we may find spiritual joy and peace and be reminded of the “reason for the season.” In your precious name we pray. Amen
