Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“Love is large and incredible patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessings come to someone else. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing in the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Love never stops loving. It extends beyond the gift of prophecy, which eventually fades away. It is more enduring than tongues, which will one day fall silent. Love remains long after words of knowledge are forgotten. My understanding is incomplete, but one day I will understand, until then, there are three things that remain: faith, hope, and love-yet love surpasses them all. So above all else, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run. (The Greatest of these is Love).” Verses From 1st Corinthians 13 TPT

After a couple of hospital stays, the first involved major surgery, the second was due to complications from medication, leaving me with feelings of loss and self-control. From my youth, these verses have, so many times, brought such comfort to me. Approximately forty years ago, I was the director for the VBS, at the little Church of my youth, with the key verse being: ‘The Greatest of these is Love.’ We were sharing this awe-inspiring love that Jesus has for each of us, and the importance of passing it along to one another, using words and phrases like, L-Leaning on Jesus, O-Overcoming with and through Him, knowing we will be V-Victorious and have E-Everlasting Peace, and now, realizing it is mine or yours simply for the asking.

This passage of scripture is of course known as the ‘Love Chapter’ of the Bible. So often, we are guilty of taking his love for us for granted. How many of us could lay down our lives for another, or be the parent sacrificing their child? This kind of love challenges our understanding, but enables us to love, in and through life’s multitude of challenges.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember that in your love for us, you gave so much, and be ever so thankful.

In Christ Love
