Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“For men’s hearts are just like the soil that drinks up the showers which often fall upon it. Some soil will yield crops as God’s blessing upon the field. But if the field continues to produce only thorns and thistles a curse hangs over it and it will be burned. Having said that, beloved, we are fully convinced that there are more beautiful and excellent things, which flow from your salvation. For God, the Faithful One, is not unfair. How can he forget the beautiful work you have done for him? He remembers the love you demonstrate as you continually serve his beloved ones for the glory of his name. But we long to see you passionately advance until the end and you find your hope fulfilled. So don’t allow your hearts to grow dull or lose your enthusiasm, but follow the example of those who fully received what God has promised because of their strong faith and patient endurance.” Hebrews 6:7-13 TPT

As we study His Word, we are cultivating it for entry into our hearts in order that we might grow within ourselves enabling us to teach others in an effort to enlarge His Kingdom. Unfortunately, life’s temptations can so often threaten to cause problems, just as weeds can overtake a beautiful bed of flowers. As diligent gardeners, we are to protect the beauty of our flowers by eliminating the weeds. Our lives are to be protected, with the ability to grow closer to Him.

In this passage, the author is using an agricultural setting to describe a child of God with a heart filled with the Holy Spirit. His children are watered by His grace through the teachings of his word. It can be so easy to become discouraged when life tends to pull us down, but God continues to love and care for us. We should continue to serve Him as we serve others, following the example of our Savior, remaining strong in our faith, as we seek him in the asking.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember to continue to serve others, as we serve you, in our ability to grow, and be ever so thankful.

In Christ Love
