Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“I stand silently to listen for the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for the Lord to rescue me. For God alone has become my Savior. He alone is my safe place; his wrap-around presence always protects me. For he is my champion defender; there’s no risk of failure with God. So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me? Join me, everyone! Trust only in God every moment! Tell him all your troubles and pour out your heart-longings to him. Believe me when I tell you-he will help you! God said to me once and for all, ‘All the strength and power you need flows from me!’ And again I heard it clearly said, ‘All the love you need is found in me!’ And it’s true that you repay people for what they do.” Psalm 62:1-2,8,11-12 TPT

It seems that lately we have encountered one actual storm after the other, with wind and rain pouring in on us, accompanied by lightning and thunder that seems to shake the very ground where we stand. Unfortunately, our lives can be invaded in this same manner. Most of us can recall at least once in our lives when it seemed that we could have been blown away with either a physical or emotional storm.

In this passage the Psalmist is telling us that we can release our anxieties and rest in Him until our storms subside. We can be assured that He alone is our safe place, our place of calm, and peace. He assures us that all the strength and power we need flows through him. In the midst of our storms, his desire, and our safe place, is to rest in Him, knowing that no matter what the circumstance, his presence can be ours for the asking.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember that regardless of whatever we are facing, we can be assured that you are the calm we seek, our shelter from the storms, and be ever so thankful.

In Christ Love
