“You don’t look at us only to find our faults, just so that you can hold a grudge against us. You may discipline us for our many sins, but never as much as we really deserve. Nor do you get even with us for what we’ve done. Higher than the highest heavens that’s how high your tender mercy extends! Greater than the grandeur of heaven above is the greatness of your loyal love, towering over all who fear you and bow down before you! Farther than from a sunrise to a sunset-that’s how far you’ve removed our guilt from us. The same way a loving father feels toward his children that’s but a sample of your tender feelings toward us, your beloved children, who live in awe of you.” Psalm 103:9-13 TPT
We can have conversations about love many times over, but to have the ability to accurately describe the love our Heavenly Father has for us can many times over, render us speechless. Our lives can become similar to the road we must travel from the valley to reach the mountaintop, filled with twists and turns, sometimes smooth, sometimes sharp, sometimes filled with potholes.
In this passage, King David is continuing to praise God for his unconditional love for us. He never condemns us for our faults, nor does he hold grudges. In our sinning, His discipline is to help us grow. As we seek His forgiveness, those sins, and our guilt, are removed and forgotten, farther than a sunrise to a sunset. As his children, in his love for us, he continues to be with us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. As we continue to live, throughout this life, from our valleys to our mountaintops, our Father continues through his love, to be with us, simply for the asking.
Heavenly Father, help us to remember that in your unconditional love for us, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we are never alone, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
