“Not a day goes by but that somebody harasses me. So many in their pride trample me under their feet. But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. What harm could a man bring to me? With God on my side I will not be afraid of what comes. The roaring praises of God fill my heart, and I will always triumph as I trust his promises. The very moment I call to you for a father’s help the tide of battle turns and my enemies flee. This one thing I know: God is on my side! I trust in the Lord. And I praise him! I trust in the Word of God. And I praise him! What harm could man do to me? With God on my side I will not be afraid of what comes. My heart overflows with praise to God and for his promises. I will always trust in him. So I’m thanking you with all my heart, with gratitude for all you’ve done. I will do everything I’ve promised you, Lord.” Psalm 56:2-4, 9-12 TPT
Today, just as in the days of King David, this world continues to be filled with people, and circumstances that tend to harass, or bring us down. If left to handle these on our own, fear and anxiety can begin to overcome and take control, even to the point of causing physical problems. We cannot waver between faith and fear.
In this passage, King David was at a stressful time in his life, with enemies pressing in on all sides. Fear could have easily tried to jump in and take over, instead, with God on his side, roaring praises filled his heart, and he trusted in the promises that no harm would come to him. We are to remember that God is always on our side, and ready to step in, simply for the asking!
Heavenly Father, help us to remember that no matter the circumstance, teach us to look to you, with faith over fear, and be ever so thankful.
In Christ Love
