“You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourselves with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. Tolerate the weakness of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity. Let your heart be always guided by the peace of the Anointed One, who called you to peace as part of his one body. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:12-15 TPT
Living in a world filled with circumstances far beyond our control can easily become an everyday challenge. Regardless of our chosen professions, remaining true to ourselves, and living a life pleasing to God requires time for Him, and in his Word. Our faith is often tested, but his love for us, and ours for Him continues to see us through.
In this passage, the apostle Paul is describing the attributes necessary to live a life pleasing to God. We are to love as he loves us, forgive, as he has forgiven us, and with unshakable faith stay true to Him. When our patience grows thin and life attempts to pull us down, in our weakness, He is our strength. As we live for Him, love should be supreme, above all else, as we ask to be wrapped in His robe of Peace.
Heavenly Father, help us to remember the importance of our love for God, and our love for each other, as we are guided by your Word to seek our peace, since it is ours, all for the asking.
In Christ Love
