We all know those people who are short on gratitude. They will take and take showing very little appreciation for what was given, or done, for them. It can become a bit discouraging when we reach out to them time and time again, but with little acknowledgement on their part. Not only can it become discouraging but hurtful as well. Sometimes we wonder if maybe we didn’t do enough, or did something wrong because of little acknowledgement. As Christians we are to look beyond that, as difficult as it may be at times. The bible tells us that we can’t be promised appreciation from others but, instead, we should redirect our focus toward God, who sees and rewards our services. Our actions are also a reflection of our own values and not an expectation for others to respond. This is another example we want others to see in us as children of God. We can’t let lack of gratitude from others weigh too heavy on us, sometimes people don’t know how to respond, and I’m sure, in their own way they are grateful. Showing our devotion and kindness is like an internal compass that guides us, regardless of how others respond.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the opportunity to serve others no matter who or what their circumstances may be and whether or not they respond. Continue to guide us to do Your bidding, and always with a grateful and loving heart to those in need, and help those we have served know they are loved and cared for. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
LACKING GRATITUDE!
