MANAGING CHRISTMAS EMOTIONS!

As we approach the upcoming Christmas holiday, for many, a number of mixed emotions are brought with it. Experiencing sadness and depression for some is not so uncommon, especially as we get older because there are so many changes over the years. Our children grow up and move away and want to start their own traditions, we see family members and good friends pass away leaving a void in our celebrations. There is also some family dissensions that can make a celebratory gathering uncomfortable . Gratefully and fortunately, there are those who greet the season with love and open arms no matter what else they may be dealing with, they see the reason for the season! We may not be able to turn the hands of time back, but if we focus on “now” and remember how fortunate and blessed we are, we can bring ourselves out of a dark place and into a place of contentment. Real contentment must come from within . You and I cannot change or control the world around us, but we can change and control the world within us, by the
“Grace of God!” Don ‘ t let the past hold you back.

Psalm 94:19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Prayer: Father, help us to see what is and not what was so we can celebrate with great joy what the reason for the season is about. We may miss the days gone by, but help us to remember we are not living in the passed and must continue to move forward with gladness. In your precious name . Amen
