Having just celebrated the Fourth of July holiday, I wonder how many of us took the time to reflect on the many blessings we have, both physical and spiritual, and for the sacrifices made to secure them. We can use our freedom to serve in so many capacities, using our time and talents to do so, not to mention having the freedom to practice our religious beliefs as we want to. When I think of countries where people are persecuted, or even killed for their religious practices, its beyond my comprehension. These are times that we should all be advocates to promote justice and equality for all. Needless to say, it would be a tough mountain to move in countries where freedom is scarce, but the Bible tells us
mountains “can” be moved. We have the freedom to set the example and I am sure those around the world see that, and that is the first step in moving mountains! We take so many of our freedoms for granted and hopefully this past holiday has given us the opportunity to stop, reflect and be grateful for all freedom, and remember those individuals who fought for, and continue to defend our freedoms, both in the past and present. We found freedom in our Lord, the forgiveness of sins and the opportunity to
live a life of purpose and service as He did for us!
Galatians 5:13
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to remember to be grateful for the freedoms we are blessed with and not take them for granted, that we may use them in alignment with your will by love, compassion and forgiveness. In your precious name we pray. Amen
