SLOW DOWN, PAY ATTENTION!

Our Adult Sunday School Class is in the process of a journey through the Gospels for Advent. Interesting enough the first Gospel we looked at was Mark. You would think Matthew would come first, but some regard Mark as the first one written, and that is why this study wanted to begin with Mark and see what he has to say about the birth of Jesus, and it turns out he says nothing! He starts out with John the Baptist. The other Gospels include John the Baptist but Mark highlights a certain aspect of John’s message in a way the others do not. He sees John the Baptist as a way to get our attention. He wants us to be prepared and make our paths straight, and we are to do it immediately. How often don’t we hear those words and our we listening? It’s repeated at least forty-one times in the Gospel of Mark. This is what Advent is all about, to remind us of what is coming and to be ready. Read The gospel of Mark, it’s a bit different than the others, and hopefully an “eye opener!”

Isaiah 40;;3
A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to focus on opening our hearts and our eyes in preparation for what is comiing, not only for this Advent season but everyday. May we be less distracted and increase our faith, hope ,and love for the coming of our Lord. In your precious name we pray. Amen
