THE HEART OF A CHILD

It’s so inspiring to witness a child serving with a sincere heart. After hearing a story about a four year old boy having breakfast at a MacDonald’s with his Mother filled my heart with so much joy knowing there “are” children in our world reflecting the kingdom of God even though they may not be aware of it at the time. This little boy saw an elderly gentleman eating breakfast by himself, he asked his Mother why the man would be eating all by himself. The Mother replied that his children were probably grown up and living in other places and he doesn’t get to see them very often. The man’s wife was not mentioned so unsure if she had passed or was sick. With that the boy picked up his breakfast food, went to the elderly gentleman’s table and asked him if he could eat breakfast with him. Needless to say the man was taken by surprise but extremely grateful and humbled by this act of kindness, especially from someone so young. He called the boy a “real gem” and the family has kept in touch with him since. What this little boy did was not just filling time but developing a heart for God and a spirit of service that hopefully will follow him into adulthood. Isn’t that what we want for our children? Even if their work is imperfect, God honors the efforts and intentions of a child.

Mark 10:15-16
Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. And He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them and blessed them.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to encourage our children to love and serve, cultivating a heart in them that love You and serve others with joy as they move into adulthood. In your precious name we pray. Amen
