Aging is something all of us have to go through. Not an easy process but a reality and it’s up to the individual how well you embrace it, and having just visited my two older sisters has made me more aware of this. The oldest sister has embraced it with grace in spite of a few setbacks, but she seems to take it all in stride. The middle sister not so much. She too has had several setbacks and with each one seems to pull away more and more from the things she once enjoyed doing because it is harder for her to accomplish many of the things she did and enjoyed in the same way that she could years ago. However, there are some things that she makes less of an effort to do as she has lost interest or any desire to do so. As much as I tried to talk to her about these things she seemed to always have an excuse for not wanting to do any of them. I was trying to get across to her that God has her here for a reason as He does for my older sister and I believe that is due to the wisdom they have yet to pass on to family members. I realized that myself while visiting with them this time, as well as I have in previous visits, because each time I learn something more about our family that I wasn’t aware of. I was the youngest child, so there were many things I don’t remember nor was aware of. It’s not easy to see my siblings aging knowing full well I’m not that far behind, but I am grateful that God gave me the opportunity to give each sister a hug one more time. I also know that we will all be reunited when our time comes, and that is my greatest comfort.
Deuteronomy 32: 7
Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations, ask thy Father and He will shew thee, thy elders, and they will tell thee.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, may we learn to embrace the aging process with gratitude, wisdom and peace. May we find continued joy in doing so knowing one day we will meet you face to face. In your precious name we pray. Amen
