When reading the Bible, do you notice how often it repeats itself? If we think of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, they each tell the same story, the life, teaching, miracles, death and resurrection of Jesus. The reason for this repetition is because it emphasizes the importance of who Jesus was, and is, and offers greater credibility. The Gospels allowed these authors to tell the story of Jesus from different angles and perspectives. In Corinthians one and two, Paul had to use the words “I repeat” to emphasize a point he had previously made. Not all got it, but many did. Not much different in today’s world. How many things don’t we do repeatedly from day to day, and when we don’t, or forget to do it, we feel something is missing in our day. That’s how powerful repetition can be, it plays a large part in our everyday lives, sometimes without us realizing it! It is important to apply repetition in strengthening our relationship with God and deepen our understanding of His word. Do you read the Bible, pray, take time to praise God repeatedly, and everyday? God “repeats” because He wants us to “get it’~ and the deeper we go the more we do. Sing His praises over and over!
2 Peter 1:12
Therefore, I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, strengthen our power of repetition in prayer and praise to help us grow spiritually and stronger in our faith, and a deeper connection to you. In your precious name we pray. Amen
