WHAT IS CONTENTMENT?

Contentment is defined as a state of happiness and satisfaction. We’ve all felt that way at certain stages of our lives, but unfortunately its usually short lived because there is always something more we think we need to make us happier. Notice I use the words “think we need” but do we really? The Bible says contentment is a state of being satisfied and at peace with one’s circumstances, even amidst challenges. It’s about trusting God’s plan in finding peace that transcends understanding. Its not about the material possessions or a perfect life, but rather a mindset of gratitude and faith in God’s provision. In today’s world where we are constantly bombarded with ads to “buy, buy, buy,” sometimes it is hard to resist, or even worse is wanting what someone else has, but if we stay focused on God’s plan and what He provides us with everyday, do we really need more? I think contentment comes easier as we age because what more do we truly need? We have all had struggles along the way, but for me, there have been many blessings as well. Be joyful in what you have, not what you think you need!

1 Timothy 6:6-7
But Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for providing us with our every need and help us learn to be content and grateful with what you have provided us with and not be swayed by outside influences for material things we don’t need. In your precious name we pray. Amen
