A hug can represent a warm and compassionate kind of love, a way to show God-like love. A hug can be a ministry, a way of conveying feelings that words cannot, especially for those who are grieving or going through stressful times. A God-like hug is a hug that comes from the heart of the person giving it. It makes you feel secure and truly cared for and can even be seen as a “healing touch.” I like to call hugs a “silent prayer” when the right words just aren’t there. It doesn’t matter if the person you are hugging recognizes it is you, or someone else hugging them, just so they feel that physical presence of love and empathy. Some of us are more giving with our hugs than others. I love a hug but don’t give them as frequently as should, although I have given them to many who are grieving or in bad situations when I’m not sure what else I can do for them. There are those who don’t care to be hugged and sometimes when that urge is there to hug them we need to ask permission first. Hopefully they will say “yes,” but if not, that tells them we care about them and want them to be okay. A hug may seem like a small gesture, but can mean so much in such a hurting world!
Song of Solomon 2:6
His left hand is under my head, and His right hand doth embrace me.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, no matter what the reason, help us to be aware of those around us who need a hug so they may know they are loved and cared for, and may the hug help them to find some comfort, peace. and through us Your spiritual presence. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
