WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES!

Hearing of the recent flooding in Texas has shaken many of us to our core! How could such a thing happen but yet it did. Time and time again we are hearing more of these horrific tragedies where hundreds of people are injured and killed, and many left homeless. I know many look to God and ask “why,” but we have been warned throughout the Bible of these things, plus God never said the journey was going to be easy, in all areas of our lives! It’s hard to prepare for the unexpected but God gives us the tools to get through those times, if we are willing to listen and learn what the Bible is telling us. I know when tragedy strikes, those effected endure different phases, shock, disbelief, sadness, grief, and, in time, hopefully, acceptance of what has happened, then they can begin to move forward and deal with what lies ahead. Unfortunately many are not in that place where they look to God for help, rather they are angry and blame Him for what has happened, not to mention everything else that’s happened to them in their lives, but our God is patient and I’m sure used to hearing angry emotions and will deal with it in His own way, and one of those ways could be helping those who blame Him find strength they never realized they had to get through whatever it is they are dealing with. They may not realize it but as Christians we know where it came from! Also, as Christians, know the “end of times” is coming, and the more we hear about these tragedies and disasters the more real it becomes. How prepared are we for that, are you ready?

Ecclesiastes 9:12
People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy. (New Living Translation)

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, He rescues those who spirits are crushed. (NLT)

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we ask for your protection and comfort over those who are suffering from a horrific tragedy. Help them to find the strength they will need in the days ahead to move forward so in time they will find peace. In your precious name we pray. Amen
