Everyday we are bombarded with news of disasters around the world. Fires, floods, tornados reeking havoc in places that have never been plagued with such things in previous years such as other areas have been, repeatedly, year after year. These disasters seem to be growing and spreading out more and more. It leaves us shaken and at a loss for words, especially when we learn the number of lives lost when disasters strike. The first thing many people ask is “why would God let such things happen?” Well, He doesn’t! That doesn’t mean He is not aware of what’s happening, nothing escapes His awareness or His purpose and His purpose is to get us through tragedy and disasters by strengthening our faith and reminding us that He is with us always. As difficult as it may be when we are struggling, if we choose to follow our own dark path believing nothing will improve, then it wont. Witnessing the lunar eclipse this past week showed me how God’s light shines amid so many tragedies we have been overwhelmed with, and those are the examples we need to look for so we know He is there and wont follow our own dark path, and may His presence, and light, also remind us there will be a day when there will be “no more” tragedies, disasters or struggles!
Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to sense Your presence to let us know You are with us and You care for us even when things seem to be falling apart. Strengthen our faith and calm our fears so we may find peace to move forward. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
GOD’S LIGHT AMID DISASTER!
