We’ve all had to deal with disappointments from time to time. Just when we think we have things well planned out to run smoothly there is a “glitch.” Recently I had planned on a breakfast date with my family than a trip to a store near by to pick up some much needed supplies for an upcoming event. Breakfast went well but when we went to the store there was a sign on the store stating it was “temporarily closed!” There went my hopes to finish the job I was hoping to complete at that particular time. However, I surprised myself as normally I would have gotten angry and done some ranting, but I actually stayed calm as there wasn’t much else I could do. I followed that up by thinking, this is what happens when we try to plan things ourselves, and for some reason God’s plan didn’t see it that way. I thought of all the scenarios of “why” and “how come,” but maybe we were being protected from a situation we wouldn’t care to be in at that particular time. The plus side is I will still have the opportunity to return to that store which, hopefully, by that time, will be back open, but if not, I’m sure with His guidance, I will find another way. So the next time you’re disappointed, pay attention to your emotions, and instead of letting them take the lead, decide that you will manage them, and always remember God “IS” by your side!
Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your promises and plans never fail, please help us when ours do. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
