We recently celebrated Veteran’s Day with parades, special programs, and even free meals for Veterans at designated places. Veteran’s Day, also known as Armistice Day, was declared a year after WW l ended in November 1918 by President Woodrow Wilson in November 1919. On May 26, 1954, Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill establishing Armistice Day as a national holiday then on June 1, 1954 congress amended the bill
replacing ”Armistice” with “Veteran’s Day.” WW l was known as the the “war of wars” and the focus was on military veterans and the sacrifices they made to protect our country and our freedom, so many making the ultimate sacrifice. It carries over today for all the men
and women, and their families, who have sacrificed so much for us. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, may we never forget and may we never forget those that serve in so many other capacities to serve our country and communities, our police, firemen, medical workers, the list goes on but you know who you are. We salute you as well! God knows where to place a warrior! Have you thanked a Veteran recently?
Mark 10:45
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Prayer:
Thank you Lord for those that serve and have served to let freedom ring. When so many are suffering in other countries, may we learn to be grateful for the glory you show us everyday. In your precious name. Amen
