Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“But you are God’s chosen treasure-priests who are kings, a spiritual ‘nation’ set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now, he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. For at one time you were not God’s people, but now you are. At one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it! For it is God’s will for you to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing what is right. As God’s loving servants, you should live in complete freedom, but never use your freedom as a cover-up for evil. Recognize the value of every person and continually show love to every believer. Live your lives with great reverence and in holy awe of God. Honor your rulers.” 1 Peter 2:9-10, 15-17

We are blessed, in that after the victory of Jesus on the cross, instead of going to a Priest, we have the privilege of seeking him directly, in and through our prayers as we strive to sit in his presence. Our relationship with God should be one of consistent divine growth, since he has adopted us as his very own. It is God’s desire that none should perish, therefore, as his servants, and his children, we are called to share his love with those around us.

In this passage, the Apostle Peter is describing how we as Christians should be living godly lives. As responsible Christians, we are to share the love of God by living and doing what is right. We should be living in complete freedom, but with great reverence and awe of our Holy God. As God’s chosen children, per his request, we are to broadcast his glorious wonders to those around us, and throughout the world, explaining the fact, that it can be theirs, simply for the asking.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember the importance of living our lives in such a manner as would be pleasing to you, and a role model to those around us, and be ever so thankful.
