REMAINING HUMBLE!

Most people I know are quite humble, meaning they don’t expect a lot of praise or acknowledgement for the things they do. We all know there are people who always need a “pat on the back” for everything they do and are constantly telling you what they have done. Not that it isn’t nice to be complimented or even get a “pat on the back,” but for most of us, Christians especially, don’t need it because we know where our acknowledgement comes from and who it matters to. It’s unusual to find a young person who is that humble, but I know of one who is still in school, first in their class, inducted into the national honor society, active in their student council, which includes various community activities. To be around this person one would never suspect any of this as there is no “better than you” attitude, always grounded. Remaining humble sets the example for those around us and if we can be an influence on them, as God wants us to be, that is a ministry. It’s difficult for some to understand it even when we try to explain it, but in the end we can let them know we look forward to our end reward, can they say as much? To remain humble means a simpler life as well, not that there aren’t always issues to address but to live a flamboyant life where one has to be center of attention can bring on a whole different set of issues, which most of us would not care to have! No matter how well Jesus became known, He remained humble to the cross and beyond.

Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, with your help may we always walk humbly with our brothers and sisters and not let our pride or arrogance become part of that walk. Remind us always that we count ourselves as equals with one another and not better than others. Help us to value one another in this humble spirit so that we may live to the fullest. In your precious name we pray. Amen
