CHALLENGING TIMES!

In chapter one of the Gospel of Mark, the words of John the Baptist tell us to “prepare” and “make yourself ready!” As Christians we know what this is implying. Maybe not a very good comparison, but I couldn’t help but think of His words and how our meteorologists, weeks prior, had been telling us to prepare for the recent winter weather we have all had to deal with the past week, and for many, still are. We are told time and time again on many occasions to “prepare” and “get ready” for impending events, but often times we become complacent and think “it can’t be all that bad,” or “that big a deal!” We now hear those who were not listening, or not heeding the warnings, wanting others held accountable for their lack of preparation. In many cases I can understand their concern, and it is frustrating, but we were told and given good advice on how to prepare. I am grateful that my family was prepared for this event, outside of a few minor issues, but we do see the light at the end of the tunnel, God has provided time and time again! Are we ready for the event John the Baptist wants us to be “prepared” for? For most of us I believe it is still a work in progress, but we need to speed up the process and “make ourselves ready,” focus your eyes straight ahead and keep your paths straight for the Lord.

Mark 13:32-33
However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay Alert!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we ask for your continued strength and guidance when we face unknown challenges, help us to stop, listen to not only you but well meant warnings that are for our protection and safety. Help us to be “prepared” and “ready.” In Your precious name we pray. Amen
