When a true Christian is suffering and can still glorify God, that is a very powerful testimony to those around them. It shows “superficial” Christians and non-Christians how they honor God through their suffering and what real faith is! We pray healing for those with whatever the affliction may be, sometimes it works and sometimes not, and sometimes the person will get worse. God will heal in His way and in His time, for whatever reason. We may not know the outcome from whatever the affliction may bring and why it is occurring, but once we have accepted it, and the deeper we are in our faith, the better we can deal with it. We can look at it this way. If we want to strengthen our muscles, you build them up by breaking them down, then as you keep exercising them, the muscles will get stronger. You develop strength through your weaknesses, and that works in your spiritual life as well. We will continue to pray relief for anyone suffering but we also need to ask God for the strength, courage and deeper faith to get through it. We need to look at every situation as an opportunity to grow and understand our Lord better. We have all suffered in some way, how have you glorified God when that has occurred?
Romans 5:3-4
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance: perseverance, character: and character, hope.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray for the strength, courage and endurance through our times of weakness. Give us the grace to move forward even in our time of affliction so we may glorify you and show those around us what deep and true faith is. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
