LAST TO FIRST!

For those of us who enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby recently, we didn’t realize we were witnessing the true meaning of perseverance, patience and the wisdom to know when the time was right to move forward. A horse by the name of Golden Tempo was the last horse to leave his gate but the first horse to cross the finish line. The horses trainer, I’m sure, was a bit distraught at first, as one could tell by her facial expression through pictures taken of her during the race, but sheer joy in the end. This horse was not expected to place well at all, but I do believe the horse and his jockey had a hidden bond that we know nothing about and that bond brought them from “last to first!” This to me should be a valuable lesson, or testimony, for us all. God may not have been concerned about the horse winning so much as He was about how he got there, and I believe it was the heart of the jockey for he and his horse to do the best they could, win or not, but to keep moving forward! God wants that for us all, so when others want to give up on us, or we want to give up on ourselves, we must remember we are a priority to God, and by His grace we will be brought to the front of the line. It will take perseverance, patience and most of the time wisdom to get there, and most likely wont be on our own timing, but His timing. The worldly view tells us we must fight for the top spots and recognition, but in God’s kingdom, the focus is on the heart, remaining humble, having faith and serving others.

Matthew 20:16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to remember to not be caught up in the world’s views of how we should be but how You want us to be and remind us that when we feel overlooked that we are treasured in Your kingdom. Keep us humble, faithful and always willing to serve others. In Your precious name we pray. Amen
