I recently had the opportunity to attend my class reunion which also included classes from 1958-1964, I was class of 1962. I was grateful to be familiar with most, thank heaven for name tags though! Faces became more familiar as I talked with the individuals and what wonderful memories we began to share. Most all of us realized what a great era we were raised in. There were no electronic devices and many of us did not have a TV until we were old enough to remember having one. We played outside, rode bicycles all over town, or walked where we needed to go, and yes, many of us did walk about a “mile” to get to school and really didn’t think too much about it because we met up with most of our friends along the way. Bus service was for rural areas, beyond the city limits. How things have changed! Now we have to be more vigilant especially for our children’s safety and well being. When I think how many
times I walked to town by myself, as many others my age did and thought nothing of it, but would be fearful of doing that now or allowing my child to do so. I know not everyone may have fond memories as many of us do growing up. Many struggled in an unstable environment at home and had issues learning in school, that’s one thing that hasn’t changed much. I’m just grateful for the environment I came from, it helped mold me into who I am today as it has for many. Our there things I could have done differently? Yes, but I believe God had a path for me as He does for us all, we just need to listen, and never forget where we came from and where we are now! May your good memories outnumber the bad, we can’t go back and change them, just grow, move on and create new “precious memories!”
Deuteronomy 32: 7
Remember the days of old, consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell YQ\J, your elders, and they will explain to you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the precious memories of times past, help us to remember the good memories and overcome the bad and not dwell on them. We give thanks for all the love, laughter and bonds created from years gone by. May these times be a bright spot in our hearts even in times of sadness. In Your precious we pray. Amen
PRECIOUS MEMORIES!
