Just A Few Of My Thoughts …

“Let me explain: The farmer sows the Word as seed, and what falls on the beaten path represents those who hear the Word, but immediately Satan appears and snatches it from their hearts. The seed sown on gravel represents those who hear the Word and receive it joyfully, but because their hearts fail to sink a deep root into the Word, they don’t endure for long. For when trouble or persecution comes on account of the Word, they immediately wilt and fall away. And the seed sown among thorns represents those who hear the Word, but they allow the cares of this life and the seduction of wealth and the desires for other things to crowd out and choke the Word so that it produces nothing. But the seed sown on good soil represents those who open their hearts to receive the Word and their lives bear good fruit-some yield a harvest of thirty, sixty, even one hundred times more than was sown!” Mark 4:14-20 TPT

How do we accept, or treat, the precious Word of God? Do we pick it up and read it every now and then, or maybe during special occasions, events, or holidays, or just when it’s convenient? Or, instead, just maybe, you are among those who are eager to learn, reading daily, and soaking in every word until you can feel as though you are right in the midst of its words.

In this passage, as the farmer sowed his seeds they fell and were scattered on four different kinds of soil, representing four different ways people accept His Word. The beaten path hears the Word but fail to guard their hearts from Satan. When gravel is in the path, the Word cannot take root, and thorns simply choke everything out, meaning, everything else in life is more important. Our need is like the good soil, to receive the Word with open hearts, eager to learn and grow as we continue in the asking.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember the importance of receiving your Word so that our lives can continue to grow, filling our heart with your peace, and be ever so thankful.

In Christ Love
Margaret
